What if...your contribution allows a cancer patient access to groundbreaking research? What if your support gives a mother more time to raise her children...
and helps your friend get an early diagnosis and life-saving treatment? What if your donation contributes to the success of Mount Sinai and its participation in the prestigious Community Clinical Oncology Program, helping cancer patients receive trial drugs years before FDA approval?
“The doctors were very professional, had a great bedside manner and a positive outlook, and they were forthright with their comments, questions, treatment, and follow-up activities. I congratulate Mount Sinai on the excellent group of professionals.” Jayne Mulcahey, Grateful Patient The Cancer LifelineHelping patients overcome cancer requires excellent care and innovative research, backed by state-of-the-art technology. Mount Sinai Medical Center leads the way in acquiring advanced equipment, such as the revolutionary Trilogy™ system, a new generation in care that combines radiation therapy with image-guided technology to treat cancers of the breast, prostate, head and neck. The numbers are staggering: Cancer has become the second largest killer of Americans, exceeded only by heart disease. The American Cancer Society estimates cancer deaths at 1,500 each day and more than 570,000 a year. In 2005, the Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Center received more than 67,000 outpatient visits, while more than 2,200 people were admitted to the hospital for cancer care. And while the five-year survival rate has improved due to advancements in early detection and new or better treatments, the fight against this deadly disease has just begun. At a time when cancer kills one of every four Americans, we ask you to consider a few What ifs... What if Mount Sinai Medical Center was no longer here to serve you and the community? What if there was no access to breakthrough drugs and treatment in South Florida? What if your membership in The Cancer Lifeline helped buy new equipment and saved lives through early detection? Make the decision today to donate to South Florida’s largest, private, independent, not-for-profit teaching hospital in support of Great Medicine for yourself, your family and your community. Nearly everyone has been touched by cancer. The disease hits home: you, your family, a co-worker, a friend or neighbor – and is as likely to strike a young mother as it is an elderly grandfather. That’s why TCL was established with a variety of membership options, so that everyone can join the fight against cancer. Membership is available in several categories, including: - Annual Member $100
- Life Member $300
- Guardian $500
- Life Trustee $1,000
- Benefactor $2,500
- Humanitarian $5,000

Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Center/Jack Taylor Cancer Research Pavilion provides a sophisticated array of outpatient services, including diagnostic imaging, medical, surgical, neurological, gynecological, urological, and radiation oncology, and numerous support services for patients and their families. Your support of cancer research, diagnosis, treatment, equipment and support services at Mount Sinai may very well lead to advancements that save your life or the life of someone close to you. Just take a look at some of The Cancer Lifeline’s recent projects, which include: - Purchasing a new, state-of-the-art 16-slice CT scanner. The $1.2 million scanner captures 16 images in one-half second, compared to the usual one image per second of conventional scanners. This scanner is more effective in the early detection of lung cancer and brain cancer, detection of pancreatic cancer and the planning of radiation therapy treatments.
- Purchasing an advanced Breast Imaging Coil to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. The coil is ideal for imaging augmented breasts, including the implant itself and surrounding tissues.
- Providing the initial gift to establish the hospital’s Patient Resource Center. This new center will provide information on many aspects of cancer care ranging from general medical references to the latest in professional oncology research.
